ABOUT us

Our Philosophy + Approach

Our philosophy stems from the “whole child approach.” Using the Well-Being wheel framework, created by Dr. Jennifer Moore, our team supports students to meet their fullest potential by focusing on the mind, body, and spirit.

Philosophy

Our teachers challenge students to become strong thinkers, inquirers, and risk-takers, and we prepare them to become principled, reflective citizens who have a sense of responsibility and empathy for their local and global communities.

Mission

Prairie Academy is committed to developing individuals that are compassionate, curious, and confident global citizens. Our small, nurturing environment supports a solid academic foundation with an emphasis on treating children as responsible and capable learners in an environment that promotes independence, creativity, curiosity, strong character, and spiritual awareness.

Curriculum

Children are ideal students; they are passionate, imaginative, and curious beings, always hungry to learn more. With intentionally small class sizes and strong parental collaboration, our team of educators have created a personalized educational experience to support each child. The experiences we create allows students to become creative thinkers and problem solvers through hands-on exploration, transdisciplinary learning, and team building. Prairie Academy's curriculum is aligned to meet and exceed the National Standards as well as the National Arts Standards, allowing students to participate in a rigorous academic program designed to inspire creativity and cultivate a passion for education.

Our Islamic studies curriculum is designed to integrate Islamic concepts across all disciplines to cultivate this love for Allah and Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. Additionally, Prairie Academy students attend Islamic Studies and Arabic class every day. In Arabic, students learn foundational skills for reading and writing, and they become comfortable utilizing Arabic in their everyday lives. In Islamic Studies, students learn key elements of our faith, memorize surahs, and understand their meanings. Prairie Academy is a proud partner with Fons Vitae Publishing Company and has become an official pilot school for The Ghazali's Children's Project (GCP). Through the GCP, teachers create interactive lessons to highlight the importance of character and spirituality to students. In the classroom, teachers explicitly emphasize kindness and respect for people from all walks of life and encourage students to celebrate diversity in the Muslim community and beyond.

 A commitment to diversity

Prairie Academy School fosters an environment in which all employees and students enjoy a safe and positive work and academic environment free from discrimination or harassment. Prairie Academy School does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, creed, color, nation of origin, gender, or any other characteristic.
